Yesterday was ALL SOULS’ DAY
the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.
In many churches this solemnity is transferred from the Sunday to today.
During this week moving towards Remembrance Sunday we hold in prayer
all those whom we love but see no longer
the bereaved
those who care for them
those who work in our hospices.
God, Good Shepherd of your sheep:
as we remember at this time those
who have travelled ahead of us
into the valley of the shadow of death,
be with us & comfort us,
& help us find in this November season
not gray ghosts, half-remembered,
but companions lit up by a love
that is unending
& undeterred.
